Advanced Remote Controlled Sampling

Automatic Sampling Of A Yamaha RM1x Sequence Remixer Using Midi Bank Changes in SampleRobot | Image Credit: Video Still From Knob Twiddler YT Channel

We hope you had a good start in 2026. It's always marvelous to hear what our users are doing with SampleRobot. Sometimes they even create a nice documentation where they record their sampling adventure to share their experience with others. As always, we ask our users to respect the copyright when taking samples.

Today we would like to highlight three of those videos that focus on different sampling use cases.

The first one is a sampling project by @KnobTwiddler showing the process of recording drum samples from a Yamaha RM1x Sequence Remixer / Groovebox using the Midi controller functionality of SampleRobot Pro to switch complete sound banks on the instrument in addition to the regular Midi program change control.

The second video comes from France. It's created by @Moessieurs. We're very glad that he has done quite a few tutorials on SampleRobot especially for using it together with the Yamaha instruments Montage M and MODX M. If you own these instruments or the predecessors we highly recommend subscribing to his channel since you will get very valuable information. This video shows the process of sampling a VST2 plugin with SampleRobot, in this case a bass sound from an Arturia Analog Lab Pro.

If you ever wanted to record a piano with SampleRobot here are some tips in the third video from @ItsMaistroMusic where he samples the 'White Piano' from a Nord Stage 4 keyboard with SampleRobot to use in a MODX M synthesizer. In the video he mentions that ne needed to adjust the mapping for each velocity layer afterwards. Normally this must not be done if you use the 'Auto-Range All' function from the Export tab in the multisample section of SampleRobot. The correct velocity mapping is included in the exported library file then.

Thank you very much all creators and keep up the good work!

Here is one last tip for all SampleRobot sample creators that handle a lot of projects and samples. There are shortcuts to go from one sample to the next when editing, also for switching between multisamples and projects.

CMD+Cursor Up/Down = Go to the next/previous sample
Alt/Option+Cursor Up/Down = Go to the next/previous multisample
Shift+CMD+Cursor Up/Down = Go to the next/previous project
